United Kingdom Government confirms INEC results as authentic

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu.

The United Kingdom Government has confirmed that the results of the presidential election as released by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) were authentic.

British Minister of State for Africa, Harriet Baldwin said the results were consistent with the results obtained through the civil society Parallel Vote Tabulation process.

“Along with our international partners, the UK believes the Nigerian people can have confidence in the result,” she said.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu early Wednesday morning declared President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 23 February election, with 15,191,847 votes. His main challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 11, 262,978 votes.

But the PDP agent at the collation centre declined to sign the results and later Atiku also rejected the verdict and said he would challenge it in the court.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Atiku ramped up the rejection by raising issues of ‘statistical impossibility’ about the results in some states of Nigeria.

The statement by the British minister was the first authentication of INEC result.

Baldwin congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on securing a second term as president.

“I offer my congratulations to President Buhari on securing a second term as the Nigerian President”, she said in a statement released by the British High Commission in Abuja.

“The UK is a long-standing friend and partner of Nigeria and the Nigerian people and a stable and prosperous Nigeria benefits Africa and the world.”

Baldwin commended Nigerians for their resilience and commitment to democracy.

She, however, recognized the concerns expressed by Nigerians on the conduct of the electoral process, in particular logistics and results collation, and reports of intimidation of electoral officers.

The minister urged any party or individual who wished to challenge the process to do so peacefully and through the appropriate legal channel.

“We encourage Nigerian authorities to examine all allegations of wrongdoing carefully, and take the necessary action against individuals found responsible’’.

She also condoled with the families and friends of those who lost their lives in election-related violence.

“No one should die in the exercise of their democratic rights,” she stated.

She reiterated the continued support of the UK Government to Nigeria and its civil society “in drawing lessons from these elections and strengthening its democracy”.

Uche Jombo Condemn Governors

uche jumbo

Nollywood actress Uche Jombo Rodriguez released a message on social media, condemning how former governors use the senate as their retirement plan.

It is no longer news that most serving governors in Nigeria, and African leaders as a whole, when they are no longer in office, they find their way into another political position as a way of securing the bag.

Some of them until they are forcefully removed through the help of the military, are even ready to stay till a 100 years and die in office. Like in the case of former Zimbabwe president – Robert Mugabe and many others.

Getting forms to apply for these positions, run into millions of Naira that only the politicians looting the country’s funds can provide, because an average Nigerian youth cannot afford such, thereby making the wealth circulate around them and their families as if it is a monarchical system of government.

Thank God we now have the not too young to run bill signed into law, where youths can actively participate in electoral processes under various parties rather than make the country look like a two party system of government as opposed to the multi party system in the constitution.

The governor of Oyo state- Abiola Ajimobi, under the APC contested for the senatorial seat and lost to PDP’s Kola Balogun in Saturday’s election. Former governor of Lagos state, Babajide Fashola, currently the Federal Minister of Power, Works and Housing and Adams Oshiomhole current national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) political party also an ex governor of Edo state.

These and many more are examples of leaders who after holding one position or the other for 8 or 4 years still have a way of remaining in political positions.

The election was a charade- Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Director of Media and Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode has asked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to reject the results of the presidential election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and call for a civil disobedience.

In his tweets on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode described the election as a charade and urged Atiku to release the authentic results submitted by PDP agents nationwide.

He also called on Atiku to give the Federal Government an ultimatum to announce the authentic results.

Read his tweets below:

”The election was a charade! @atiku should now brace up to defend the choice of millions of Nigerians who risked their lives on Saturday, defied tyranny and oppression and spoke through the ballot! He must reject the results and give the FG an ultimatum to declare the authentic…

…results, failure of which he will form a Govt. and order civil disobedience throughout the nation! If this charade is allowed to stand, the country is finished! Then the authentic results collated by PDP from the 119,000 PUs must be released to the public and the int. community!” Fani-Kayode tweeted.

She as become rude and no longer respected him - Sunday Orisaguna alleged Jumoke Orisaguna

Sunday Orisaguna recently granted an interview in which he alleged that Jumoke had become rude and no longer respected him

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Olajumoke denied all the allegations made by her man. She said, “Anybody can say whatever pleases them with their mouth. He is the one that has been spreading such stories.

When a man knows everything about you, he can choose to do whatever with that information. As for me, I am okay and there is nothing wrong with me.” Denying that there was any rift in their union, Olajumoke said, “Whatever is going on is known to God.

We are still together. He has never discussed all what he has been saying outside with me, so I don’t understand what he is driving at because we sleep in the same house. “Well, he can continue saying whatever pleases him but Iwill not say anything bad about him. There is nobody I will discuss his matter with; I just leave him to God.

God will judge between us.” Asked if Sunday was displeased because she no longer gave him money, Olajumoke said, “Now you understand what I have been saying. I do not need to break it down beyond that; you already know what I mean. I will not say anything bad about him. I have handed him to God...”

Olajumoke said she hadn’t become a spendthrift since she came to the limelight. “I have always been a good manager. Even when I was working in the bakery, I knew how to manage the resources available to me. Can you imagine a man not working for two years and being fed by a woman?”

After her allegation, another Snap user came and disclosed that Jackie got her G-Wagon from another rich guy known as Money Gram after sleeping with her.

13 Process To Overcome Heartbreak with Immediate Effects.

Image result for Steps To Overcoming Heartbreak

Love is in the air and while for those in happy relationships, it is one of the best and most memorable times, for others it is a so-so period.
For those at the bottom of the so-so spectrum, the case is even worse.

We understand your pain and that is why we are here to help.
Here is how to overcome in this turbulent time:

1. Focus On Yourself 100%

Appreciate yourself. If someone had told you that by this time a few weeks or months ago, you would not be stronger, you would have never believed it. Consider how much you have grown in thinking, in and most importantly, in reshuffling your priority in what you need in a partner. Also, nothing gives you the opportunity to deeply reflect on this day. Take yourself out, you deserve it.

2. Look On The Bright Side

We understand that a breakup can destroy your love’s outlook. However, if you see yourself as being liberated, it changes your perception. Yes, we understand that you miss all the attention and all that looked like love. Yet, you have to consider if you would rather stay in a relationship where you feel sad and is riddled with disagreements?
And even if it was a good thing, it is over now, don’t stress it.

3.Go Out to have fun Or Go out on a date! Do not allow heartache to make you wait.

Resist the urge to stay alone locked up and wallowing in tears.
Get around some friends and everyone who is emotionally available and have the fun of your lives.
A dinner with those you care about won’t be a bad idea after all.

4. Recognize that you are going through a very big emotional experience.

Be kind to yourself. Take things slowly. Like being sick physically, when your heart's ties are dramatically impacted, it can send us reeling out of balance for awhile. This takes patience and gentleness to get through. It may feel like a good idea, in some cases, to focus on anger and blame, but remember not to go overboard. Ultimately, you chose the path you are walking, and being excessively negative about the circumstances you are going through can make them worse for you.

5. Know that it will change in time. Feelings are like the tide. They come in waves.

This is an important thing to remember. What you are feeling right now will not be the same way forever. Also, it helps to know that these things ebb and flow when a moment of sadness comes up again suddenly. Instead of despairing over how the heartbreaking feeling is back again, try noticing that it must have been gone for a little while for you to notice its return. Take comfort in the fact that you only have to handle what's right in front of you emotionally to be on your way to healing

6. Realize there is a purpose. Heartbreak doesn't happen at random.

There is a message in every pain we experience and nothing hurts us uselessly. Knowing this, you are clued in to see what your feelings are really trying to tell you in order to help your life and heart be better and stronger. It could be that you are hurting because you made a choice to trust in a person or situation that was not right for you, and your feelings are letting you know the peril you were put in. When you get burned, it shows you not to put your hand into the fire.

7. Focus on something else that you love through this time.

8. Keep yourself busy and productive without being impulsive.

9. Lean on your family and friends until the longing ends.

10. Remove from your sight and mind everything your ex-lover has left behind.

11. Find a means of relaxation to lessen the frustration. Make plans to take a vacation in a peaceful location.

 12. Don’t call, text, or email the person who has hurt you. Avoid all contact until you are with
someone new.

Kidnappers, armed robbery suspect arrested in Abia

An angry mob lynched and burnt to death a suspected armed robber who was among a gang of seven that invaded Eziama area in Aba on Monday.

Spokesman for Abia State Police Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident.

The incident occurred at Uche Street in Eziama, Aba North LGA in the early hours of Monday.

“We got the information this morning that a gang of seven armed robbers attacked the residents of Eziama, Aba and robbed them of their household valuables which included televisions, palmtops, mobile phones and other properties.’’

Ogbonna said that the police had launched an investigation to discover both the identity of the suspect and those who killed him instead of turning him over to the police.

“The hoodlums, armed with machetes and locally made guns, left after they thought that they had succeeded.

“But luck ran against one of them who was caught by the irate mob and they burnt him to death.

“We are nosing around to find out the identity of the burnt suspect because when things like this happen, people will be skeptical to talk to the police,” he said.

Ogbonna warned people not to take laws into their hands in any circumstance but to report any matter to the police for proper resolution.

“If they had caught him and handed him over to the police, we would have extracted some helpful information from him that could lead to the arrest of other gang members.

“But now that they have killed him, it has become more difficult,” the police Spokesman said.

He said that some of the valuables the robbers forcefully took from their owners at gun point had been recovered.

Election: Beware of Fake Social Media Results – INEC

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi state, has urged politicians to be wary of social media posts after voting prior to the official declaration of result by the commission.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Alhaji Ahmad Mahmud, gave the advice during an interactive session with stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

“Fake news is now a trend and can mar our efforts to ensure free, fair and credible elections.

“We urge you to be wary of social media posted results before official declaration.

“Only INEC Returning Officers at wards, local governments and state levels have the statutory authority and power to declare the results,” he said.

He said that 1,938,171 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were received from INEC headquarters out of which 1,860,239 were distributed, leaving 77,932 PVCs unclaimed.

“We have all the sensitive materials at CBN custody, so we have no fear for the materials now.

“I collected the remaining sensitive materials that we had been awaiting for and by Wed, Feb. 20, we are going to start distributing them to remote areas and by Fri. 22.

“We hope to finish the distribution in all the 21 local government areas of the state.”

According to him, the state has 225 wards, 1,345 voting points and 2,398 polling units in the 21 local government areas.

“We still maintain our arrangement as we had earlier told before the postponement that, we are going to use 520 vehicles in the transportation of ad hoc staff and election materials.

“This is part of our arrangement with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Federal Road Service Corps (FRSC) as well as security agencies on transportation.”

He assured that INEC was determined to ensure free, transparent and fair elections but urged the people to continue to pray for successful conduct of the exercise.

The REC said that special arrangements had also been made to take care of physically challenged persons to enable them exercise their franchise without hitches.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the stakeholders at the interactive session were security agencies, representatives of political parties, traditional and religious leaders as well as various NGOs and CSOs.

She said:

“Well, a father is one who takes full responsibility of his child, who adores his child, who makes sure that an “ant” never reaches his child’s shoe lace.

So, to answer your question, I’m keeping the identity of my daughter’s father (my husband) because we always protect those we truly love,”

“This is my second marriage and yes, it is official and ordained by God. Well, my first marriage was never official (which I thank God actually). The truth is, everyone is trying to make a name just by playing unnecessary stunts available on ground.

Now, everyone is entitled to their own point of view whether ugly or stupid, but that doesn’t matter to me. I’ve got lots on my plate, especially now that I have a daughter in my life, that’s my number one priority and it will always be.

But I will cross millions of miles if any soul drags my daughter’s name or tap her unnecessarily, whether knowingly or unknowingly, she’s my life. So any talk is pointless,” she said.

Fuel pump price reduced from N145 by oil marketers

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has instructed all its members nationwide to reduce fuel pump price from N145 per litre to N140.

In a statement signed by the National President, Elder Chinedu Okworonkwo, the reduction was effected as a result of Saturday’s last-minute postponement of presidential and National Assembly elections by INEC, Daily Post reports.

According to him, Nigerians traveled to different places across the country to cast their votes, but to their dismay, the election was shifted to Feb. 23.

“IPMAN was prompted to slash N5 from the N145 per litre official Petroleum pump price in a bid to motivate Nigerians to return to vote again on Feb. 23.

“We urge all our members across Nigeria to immediately reduce the fuel pump price from N145 per litre to N140 per litre.

“This is because of the political situation that hit the country after INEC suddenly announced the postponement of presidential and National Assembly elections after Nigerians were fully prepared.

“We are all aware how Nigerians traveled to different parts of the country in order to exercise their civic duty; unfortunately, they heard a sad news of postponement of the polls,” Okworonkwo said.

Jussie Smollett denies paying 2 Nigerian brothers to attack him

Lawyers for the US actor Jussie Smollett have said the actor has denied paying 2 Nigerian brothers to attack him last month.

Their statement came after it was reported in news media that police believed the actor may have staged the attack, which reportedly happened on January 29th, on himself.

There have been reports that the two Nigerian brothers, Abimbola Abel and Olabinjo Ola Osundairo might have been paid off by Smollett to stage the attack.

The brothers were arrested on February 13, 2019, in connection to the case.
They were picked up at the airport in Chicago after they arrived from Nigeria where they had gone to spend some time with their family.

However in their reaction, his lawyers Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson said
“Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with,”

“He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

One of the brothers is Smollett’s personal trainer, and the lawyers said it was “impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity”.
