Breaking News: Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari plan to overhaul the nation’s security architecture- Babagana Monguno

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari is planning to overhaul the nation’s security architecture, National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd.) disclosed this on Tuesday.

Monguno, who spoke with newsmen after the security council meeting presided over by Buhari in Abuja, said the president had ordered an overhaul of operational strategies of the nation’s security network to effectively counter the security situation across the country.

The NSA stated that the government was working on a solution to the security crisis in some parts of the country, saying that the Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd), was “working on something” to give effect to President Buhari’s earlier marching orders to service chiefs.

According to him, the council decried proliferation of drugs, which it said was driving insecurity in the country.

Monguno said the manner of killings of their victims could only mean one thing and that is, the bandits, kidnappers and terrorists were out of their minds.

He said Buhari reaffirmed his last marching orders to the nation’s security chiefs that their best effort was not good enough.

Monguno said the president told the security chiefs that Nigerians had lost confidence in the security sector and that he was determined to restore that confidence.

Historical News : The Formation of Ondo Kingdom

Have you heard anything from the history of Ondo Kingdom? Do you want to know more? Check out this article.

The Ondo Kingdom is a traditional State with capital in Ondo City, Ondo State, Nigeria.

Ondo Kingdom was established by Princess Pupupu one the twins of Alafin Oluaso, her mother was QUEEN Olu who later died at Ile oluji, the princess gave birth to twins in the era where twins are abomination, and they were named ESE OMO.

One of the twins died at Epe near ondo. There were wars in the town between 1865 to 1885 when people in the kingdom fled to Oke Opa.

OSEMAWEs installed and died there. Before then, the KINGDOM was ruled by the son of Pupupu called Airo.

Airo went to Benin under the pupilage of his uncle Oba Eiseghie 1516 to train in the art of governance.

Airo came back with many traditional Benin culture and religion, on his arrival he changed the organogram of the Chieftaincy, and he changed CHIEF Lisa as 2nd in command, as he saw in Benin and also made CHIEF Jomo the 3rd in command.

Osemawe Airo brought some titles from Benin to ondo like logboesere, ogbodu, lisagbo, etc, why OSEMAWE his brothers and sisters are settled at Odi LOTU OMOOBA in OKE Otunba Headed by one of the Princes called Olotu OMOOBA.

He was assisted by 5 princess lead by LISAGBON why the two ranking princes are to be in charge of 2 traditional ONDO festivals called OBALIYEN and Agemo festivals.

The kingdom survived during and after the colonial period, but with a largely symbolic role.

Osemawe rules through 5 leading
High Chiefs namely. Lisa, Jomo, Odunwo, sasere , adaja.

The Ondo people are one of the largest subgroups of the Edo people, but since the colonial era, they have been included as part of the subgroups of the Yoruba people.

There are three different origin stories of the Ondo kingdom.

1, Firstly, the tradition of Ondo town which is highly celebrated to this day claims that Ondo was founded by a wife of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba who had migrated from Mecca to Ile-Ife.

2, Oduduwa's wife, Pupupu, gave birth to twins, which were regarded as unlucky and resulted in her exile with her twins. She moved southward until she came to the current location of Ile-Oluji.

3, Pupupu became the first ruler of the Ondo Kingdom in the 16th century and her descendants wear the crown today.

A final origin myth contends that Ondo was founded by people from the Kingdom of Benin during the reign of Ozolua.

Speculatively, one could suggest from the above that there is a very real possibility that the Ondo people are a mix of both the Yoruba on the one hand and the Edos on the other as the Ondo kingdom lies on the edge of Yorubaland with Benin City being the next major city in terms of proximity to the Midwestern Region of Nigeria.

The Story of Fela Kuti, Life, Death And Other Facts You Need To Know.

The charismatic multi-instrumentalist is the son of Reverend Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, who welcomed him into the world on October 15, 1938, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Kuti was named Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti at birth by his parents. His father who was a school teacher and an Anglican minister while his mother was an anti-colonial activist.

Born into a wealthy family, the musician had a comfortable childhood as well as access to the best education at the time. He had his secondary school education at Abeokuta Grammar School. Upon his graduation, Fela’s parents sent him to Britain to pursue a career in Medicine.

On getting to Britain in 1958, the music legend changed his mind and switched to music. He was tutored at the renowned Trinity College of Music, where he particularly developed a strong interest in the trumpet.

It was while Fela was still studying in London that he launched his first band called Koola Lobitos.

The musical group, at the time, used to play a blend of highlife and jazz with native African drums.

The Afrobeat icon was not the only child of his parents, as he has two brothers whose names are Olikoye Ransome-Kuti and Beko Ransome-Kuti who are both respected medical doctors in Nigeria.

After a successful musical education in London, Fela Kuti decided to return to Nigeria.

He eventually did in 1963 and later met Sandra Izsadore (also known as Sandra Smith) during a tour of the United States in 1969.

Fela’s meeting with the Black Panther Party member had a significant influence on him and eventually gave rise to his decision to switch from his.... gleeful music pattern to a volcanic and political rebellious-patterned Afrobeat genre.

His first move upon his arrival to Nigeria was to change the name of his band to The Afrika’70. He later adopted the name “Anikulapo” as a replacement to his surname “Ransome”

And as time passed, his songs began to reflect more social issues than love lyrics. At that moment, the Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was born.

Fela Kuti’s band was famed for its call-and-response within the chorus pattern and for performing with two or more guitarists...

two baritone saxophones and at times, two bassists.

Besides the simplicity of the musician’s songs, they are also known to be very long (each song lasts between 10–15 minutes).

Kuti’s songs were mostly sung in Nigerian pidgin English, though a few of them are performed...

in the Yoruba language as well.

Talking about his instruments, the music star usually performs with the keyboards, trumpet, saxophone, electric guitar, and drum solo.

Kuti, until the time of his death, recorded over 20 albums which include Open & Close (1971)...

Fela Fela Fela (1969), Afrodisiac (1973), Expensive Shit (1975), Fela’s London Scene (1971), No Agreement(1977), Beasts of No Nation (1989), Why Black Man Dey Suffer (1971), Confusion (1975), Black President(1981), The Best Best of Fela Kuti (1999) Original Sufferhead (1981).

Fela Kuti was a firm believer in polygamy and in accordance with his beliefs, he ended up marrying several women at the same time in the year 1978.

His first wife is called Remilekun (Remi) Taylor. He got married to her in 1960 and their union was blessed with three children.

Femi Kuti, Sola Kuti (who died in 1997), and Yeni Kuti. Fela’s other children who came from his several relationships with other women are Kunle Anikulapo Kuti, Omosalewa Anikulapo Kuti (a Nigerian-based Lawyer), Motunrayo Anikulapo Kuti (a dancer), and Seun Kuti (a musician).

Besides music, Fela Kuti will forever be remembered as one Nigerian musical icon who boldly expressed his opinions on continental and international matters without fear or favor.

During his lifetime, Kuti was of the opinion that colonialism is the root of the political and....

socio-economic and problems that plagued the African people. He was also a candid supporter of socialism and Pan-Africanism and was at the forefront for a democratic and united African republic.

Beyond Africa, he was an assertive critic of the United States of America as well.

He once condemned the psychological attack that American organizations like the CIA and ITT launched against developing nations with regards to language.

The Abeokuta-born icon also spoke strongly against terms like undeveloped, Nonaligned countries, and Third World which he said implied inferiority.

According to records, Femi’s constant attack against corruption and the state of affairs in Nigeria and Africa led to his arrest on over 200 different occasions, with the longest being his 20 months jail term after his arrest in 1984.

The human rights activist died on 3 August 1997, in Lagos, at the age of 58, from complications related to AIDS. His passing was announced by his brother, Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, who was a prominent AIDS activist.

Kuti’s remains was encased in a five-sided glass coffin and staged for full public viewing, after which he was laid to rest at the site of the old Shrine compound. His funeral was attended by over one million people.

Can you believe Late Ajimobi was Defrauded of 50M before his death? Read How..

How Late Ajimobi Was Defrauded Of N50m On Fake Drugs From Bangladesh before his death.

The last days of former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, who died on Thursday at First Cardiology Hospital in Lagos following Coronavirus complications, were devoid of peace as he was defrauded of N50m right on his sickbed.

Ajimobi was rushed to the hospital weeks ago after his health deteriorated significantly and soon slipped into a deep coma he never recovered from until he passed away on Thursday.

In the period doctors were battling to save his life at the Lagos hospital, family members desperate to keep him alive reached out to a handful of Nigerians they knew abroad to help get a sizeable quantity of Remivir to be administered on him.

Manufactured in Bangladesh, the antiviral drug was previously tested in humans with Ebola virus disease and has shown promise in treating severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) caused by Coronavirus, according to United States National Institutes of Health.

First, the assignment for the search for the drug was given to a Nigerian in Texas, United States, to see if he could help get it.

After days of contacting several trusted persons for the 'project', he gave up the search as the tight monitoring of the drug by the US government made it almost impossible for it to be moved out of hospitals.

The $50,000 paid was returned after another search for the drug in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, did not also materialise.

The hospitals contacted had only limited dose of the drugs, which is closely monitored by the US authorities desperate to stop the rising number of deaths related to Coronavirus.

After failing to get the drug in the US, members of Ajimobi circle turned attention to Bangladesh were it is being produced.

A Nigerian assured them of getting the needed quantity of Remivir to administer on the ex-Oyo governor and help save his life.

Subsequently, a jet and N50m was dispatched to the Asian country for the purchase and delivery but sadly the drugs procured by the Nigerian man was all fake.

He pocketed large chunk of the money and left the former governor to battle for his life at the Lagos hospital where for at least one week he was on a life support machine before he eventually died.

"All our guys here in the United States couldn't risk it because of the war act invoked by President Donald Trump that the drug should not get out of America.

"It is something I was involved in from the beginning. In fact, we gave $50,000 to one of our Nigerian guy who is a doctor in Los Angeles but he returned the money. He said the hospital had only 100 dose and everything was monitored on how it is used.

"But one Nigerian guy defrauded them after claiming he could get it in Bangladesh.

"They sent a flight and paid about N50m but the drug they got from him was fake," one of those privy to the search for the drugs told SaharaReporters.

It was gathered that the disappointment from that development further added to the pain of those close to the former governor, who passed away at the age of 70 on Thursday.
