Coconut oil

Of course, you saw that coming. Coconut oil being a staple in health and beauty is no longer news. From the hair on our head to our skin and our lips we have learnt over time, the many benefits that come from using coconut oil. Well, we are thrilled that these benefits extend to our eyelashes too! Studies have shown that coconut oil contains fatty acids, mainly Lauric acid which is advantageous because of the easy absorption by the hair shaft. It protects the hair from protein loss and damage and visibly increases eyelash growth.

Olive oil

Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, K, chlorophyll and carotenoids. It is very good for eyelash growth. Continuous application over a period of time will help your eyelashes double in thickness and length. Results are even more visible when slices of lemon are soaked in the olive oil before application.

This oil contains acids and antioxidants which boost blood circulation and nourish the hair follicles promoting healthy and full eyelash growth. It even moisturizes the skin around your eyes and helps prevent the development of crow’s feet or wrinkles. So you not only get longer lashes but healthier eyes.

How To Use:
It is best to apply oils on your eyelashes at bedtime. To apply, find a clean roller ball or mascara wand. This reduces the risk of contamination that could be caused by touching and applying the oil with your fingers.

Next, apply any of the oils mentioned above to your lashes in upward strokes. Blot out excess oil with a clean cloth or wipes. Apply enough oil to make your lashes feel moisturized but ensure that oil does not drip into your eyes.

Again, do this right before going to bed.

Did you know you can use your own blood for a facial? its called Vampire Facials

Vampire facials are all the rage and though it may look disgusting, using your own blood can have massive benefits for your skin. Take a look!
Did you know you can use your own blood for a facial? While some may agree that beauty is pain, others would argue that injecting your own blood back into your face in the name of beauty might be a step too far. Here's all you need to know about the crazy beauty trend inspired by Kim Kardashian.
GETTY IMAGE

First it was semen facials and now we have the vampire facial, otherwise known as a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) facial, was first brought into the spotlight by Kim Kardashian West who underwent the procedure during an episode of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians spin-off, Kim and Kourtney Take Miami.
A "blood facial" or "vampire facial" is a cosmetic procedure during which a doctor draws a couple vials of blood from your arm, centrifuges the blood to separate out the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells. They add the platelet-rich plasma back into your face. So that it properly soaks in, the doctor pokes your face all over with a bunch of micro-needles before applying the plasma.

There's no evidence at all that this procedure works and there is an element of danger with plasma injections because they deal with the patient's own body fluids. The idea behind blood facials is that they infuse the skin with platelets, which contain growth factors, which in turn are known to be helpful in wound healing.

Needling the skin always has the risk of infection so be sure to receive the procedure from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
The procedure works best for those with premature wrinkles, high levels of solar damage, or anyone who wants an even tone and fresher appearance to their skin, however if you have a history of blood diseases, including clotting or bleeding disorders, you should not seek PRP treatment.

As far as risks go, there aren't as many as you might think. There is a chance of slight bruising at the time of the venipuncture. And aside from the discomfort of a blood draw and bruising from injection or microneedling, the vampire facial is relatively safe, as it is your body's own blood being recycled. Cost typically ranges, but in the dermatologist's office a treatment will set you back around the equivalent of N365,000.
